How Has Spanish Played a Role in Your Personal and Professional Life?

Born in San Antonio, Texas, I studied Spanish from 6th grade on, selected it as a teaching field with English at UT in 1971, and have been alternately teaching Spanish or teaching using Spanish for close to 35 years. As a Technical Writer in the late 70’s -80’s, I used Spanish in the office, with clients, and in our community.

Being bilingual is as much a part of my person as is walking… so when I am fortunate to be surrounded by folks who speak Spanish, I am at home.

How Long Have You Been Teaching?

35 years including substituting after retirement. 25 years prior to retirement.
