| How Has Spanish Played a Role in Your Personal and Professional Life? |
I’ve been on a quest to acquire Spanish since 7th grade. I did my undergrad in Spanish and my Masters in Spanish, then got my teaching certificate. I have taught Spanish for around 11 years and my husband love to travel, so we have been to several Spanish-speaking countries. Dearest to our hearts is Guatemala. We have gone annually for the past 8 years, bringing groups of people with us to build a house for a family.

Family is everything to me, even though we are empty-nesters now. Two of our sons are married and our independent, ambitious daughter is in her first year of PA school at Midwestern in Glendale, AZ. My husband and I live in North Dakota where he is an assistant principal and I am one of 3 Spanish teachers at the public school. This is my first year getting to teach a Heritage class, but it has been on my heart for several years to do so. I love my kiddos already and yet, as a non-native speaker, I feel highly unqualified.
