Heritage Spanish Professional Development Modules

HERITAGE SPANISH PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT MODULES

The “Heritage Spanish Professional Development Modules” is an ongoing TeCHS project aiming to provide relevant information and resources to promote, expand and celebrate heritage Spanish teaching and learning. These professional development modules are based on the Heritage Spanish Summer Workshop series (2018, 2019, 2020), hosted by TeCHS and COERLL. New modules will be incorporated with materials from future workshops and live presentations.

Each self-paced module includes several lessons, video clips from the workshops, short activities, and resources, as well as self-graded quizzes. Viewers are invited to reflect on the different aspects that impact the teaching of heritage Spanish in diverse settings, and to participate in the growing community of language instructors dedicated to support heritage language education.

Although originally designed as professional development for language instructors who work with Spanish heritage learners at all levels of education, these modules can also be of interest to course designers, curriculum developers, administrators, and researchers. All contents in each module are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license (CC BY-SA), which gives you, the user, rights to make copies of, remix, modify, and share the content, as long as you attribute TeCHS as the original authors, and share with the same license.

This project would not be possible without the generous support from the TeCHS team and the COERLL team. Special thanks go to our colleagues Jocelly Guie Meiners, Sarah Sweeney, Nathalie Steinfeld Childre, and Carl Blyth.
