|How Has Spanish Played a Role in Your Personal and Professional Life?
I was born and raised in Costa Rica, so Spanish is my first language. However, I started learning English at an immersion school when I was 4 years old. I have an MA in French Linguistics, and a PhD in Spanish Linguistics. I currently have the privilege to teach Spanish heritage language courses at UT. I find them to be the most rewarding courses to teach, and I feel that having grown up bilingual allows me to greatly connect with these students. I hope to continue teaching these courses, learning about them, and I also hope to contribute to the research concerning the teaching of Spanish for heritage learners.
