How Has Spanish Played a Role in Your Personal and Professional Life? | I started taking Spanish classes in junior high and enjoyed them so much that I just kept taking them through high school and then college. After studying abroad in Mexico during the end of my undergrad, I knew I wanted to teach and work with international populations-especially native speakers of Spanish. I spent about twelve years teaching ESL. Workforce English, Literacy skills around the US to ]majority Spanish speaking populations; in 2008. I started teaching Spanish to adult learners at Perimeter College. I’ve had the great fortune of teaching Business English in Mexico, working with the Ministry of Ed of Paraguay in Asuncion to develop an English curriculum, leading study abroad to Costa Rica, serving as a medical interpreter in the DR, attending teaching conferences in Argentina and Spain, and backpacking through regions of South America. From my friendships to my musical preferences, culinary passions and professional endeavors, Spanish has played a big role in my personal and professional life. |
