Hola –
What’s everyone’s favorite high school level heritage textbook nowadays? It’s interesting… usually when one progresses in their teaching career they ditch textbooks, but in my case it’s the opposite. I’m seeing the value in using peer-reviewed resources and am realizing that when I do things myself, I end up leaving things out.-
Hola Chris!
We recently trained with Cecilia Lara for our new Heritage Speaker courses! We also purchased Anecdotas 1 and 2 from https://www.1wayeducation.com/. Their materials are new, visually stunning, and up-to-date! My teachers LOVED it! Dallas ISD and Houston ISD also uses One Way Education. Check them out! -

Thanks @veronicalaw– checking out Anecdotas right now. Even with the little bit that I’ve seen, they know what questions teachers are going to ask!

Question regarding heritage course. I’m looking for some input on whether it’s recommended or not for a non heritage student to take a Spanish heritage course, or would this type of course should only allow Spanish heritage students. I hope this makes sense.
-
At ACC I offer Spanish for Spanish Speakers and it’s open to anyone fluent in Spanish, heritage and non-heritage speakers.
-
Great! thanks for your input.
-
I have had non-native Spanish speakers from different countries. I have enjoyed their contributions and seeing the interactions with native speakers.
-
-
I came back to the site today and noticed that most of the links (at least all of the ones in the ‘ Instructor Resurces’ drop-down menu) are broken. Will someone fix them, please?
-
Hi Nina, it’s fixed now, I apologize for the inconvenience. If you have an issue with the website again you can contact techs.edu.team@gmail.com.

Hola, Luciane. I too am happy to have found this group and would also love to see some sample syllabi. I teach in a private high school and our native Spanish-speakers could clearly benefit from a plan of study more in line with their background and language level. I am working on solutions, but seeing others’ year long plans would be helpful. Que…[Read more]

Hello,
I am a new Heritage Teacher and I am realizing how much writing and writing feedback I’m going to need to give this year. How do you handle that in your own classroom?
Also, I am hoping to teach Heritage Spanish with a Social Justice lens, does anyone else do something like that? Do you have any scope and sequences that you’d be willing to share.
